What Jean has meant to Brian
The photo of Jean and Brian (and assistant Bev Enns) was taken in 1996 during Jean’s visit to Calgary, AB, Canada for a meeting of the International Council.
Although Brian is non-verbal, his life speaks of what Jean has meant to Brian. After his birth, Brian spent the first year of his life in the hospital. His family was not able to care for him and Brian was placed with an organization that provides service to children with developmental issues. He lived there until he was 22, when he joined the L’Arche Calgary community, who quickly became his family.
Over 30 years later, Brian’s daily life speaks to the results of Jean’s actions which founded L’Arche. Brian is a happy, content and energetic person who enjoys a blessed and full life. Through the efforts of various L’Arche assistants, Brian has recently established contact with some siblings and cousins.
Thank you, Jean, for the enormous gift you have given through L’Arche.
