L'Arche Halifax is recruiting a Homes Coordinator

L’Arche Halifax is seeking an energetic, compassionate individual who is willing to welcome, form, and grow with House Leaders and members with intellectual disabilities.  The Homes Coordinator is a member of the community leadership team with the Community Leader and part time Assistant Coordinator. The Homes Coordinator directly supervises the House Leaders and ensures the integration of the Identity and Mission of L’Arche, the Servant Leadership Model, policies and government standards in the homes. The Homes Coordinator directly encourages, trains and supports House Leaders to create homes that embrace the core values of L’Arche, thus resulting in high quality care for individuals with intellectual disabilities and a thriving learning environment for Assistants.


L’Arche Halifax is located in North End Halifax and is in close walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants and is just one block from the Hydrostone area. We are a small and vibrant community consisting of a duplex which is home for 8 core members and more recently, an independent supported living apartment.  Our community gatherings take place in the larger of our two homes. We are in the dreaming stages of a growth project that could include a gathering space, our offices and space for community partners, affordable/accessible apartments, a social enterprise, and more.  It’s an exciting time to join our community!

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • House Leader Supervision: Responsible for leading House Leaders in fulfilling their roles with clear direction, supervision, skill building and support. They are also responsible for the Annual Review Process, regular Roles & Goals meetings, and Commitment Extension processes.
  • Household Management: Responsible for supporting House Leaders and others to create a homey, inclusive and welcoming environment where every member has a voice and is invited to contribute.
  • Licensing and Inspection: Responsible for leading homes to a high standard by conducting regular inspections of the houses and ensuring documentation is kept organized, accurate and timely. The Homes Coordinator is also responsible for understanding and adhering to the guidelines, policies and regulations of L’Arche Halifax  and government bodies.
  • Core Member Support: Responsible for supporting high quality of care for each core member by modeling and teaching good support and best practices for physical, medical and emotional care.
