L'Arche Ottawa is recruiting an Assistant Communty Leader/Executive Director

L’Arche Ottawa is seeking an energetic, compassionate individual to assist the Community Leader / Executive Director in all aspects of his responsibility to lead L’Arche Ottawa as we live the mission and identity of L’Arche. L’Arche Ottawa is currently engaged in a two-year transition plan to strengthen the community following the Covid pandemic and to develop and launch a new strategic plan moving us into the future. The current Community Leader will end his term in September 2024 upon completion of this two-year transition. The successful candidate for the Assistant Community Leader/Executive Director role will be well placed to apply to the process selecting the next community leader. Best fit individuals are those who embrace community building and are excited about opportunities for growth and change that will allow L’Arche Ottawa’s current and future members with and without disabilities to thrive as we go forward.
L’Arche Ottawa is a bilingual (English and French), vibrant, spiritual, relationship-based community in Ottawa, Ontario. We currently have 6 homes, where people with and without intellectual disabilities live, work and share life together (26 “core members” and 25 “assistants”). Our operational budget is a little over two million dollars. We are a diverse, multicultural community that celebrates the unique gifts of each person who chooses to live and/or work with us. Working under the direction of the Community Leader, the Assistant Community Leader will be responsible for a subset of the major duties and responsibilities of the Community Leader. This subset may vary from time to time, as determined in dialog with the Community Leader:
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence with government standards/directives and local community policies, and make sure adequate structures, systems, resources, and processes are in place to meet the needs of L’Arche Ottawa.
- Under the general supervision of the Board, collaborate with Leadership Team members, Team Leaders, and all stakeholders to manage the high-quality and person-centred care and well-being of the members with disabilities living in L’Arche Ottawa’s homes and served by its programs.
