Nomination of Jeff Gilbreath as Ontario Regional Leader
The Mandate and Selection Committee for the Ontario Region, chaired by Jenn Power, is at the end of its mission.
The committee did this work in the context of a challenging economic and political situation in Ontario and the very fragile situation in L’Arche North Bay.
The mandate takes these realities into account and calls for the development of resources and skills to proactively address these issues.
The committee unanimously recommended the appointment of Jeff Gilbreath as Regional Leader for the next 4 years, a recommendation that I confirmed, and that Jeff enthusiastically accepted. As I mentioned in my e-mail on June 14, I decided, in consultation with the Regional Council, to postpone the appointment of a Vice Regional Leader, in order to take the time to develop a job description of a role that could become a Regional Operations Manager in order to best meet the needs of the communities.
Indeed, more and more, the social, economic and political challenges require us to coordinate and pool our resources, in order to promote the specificities of the mission of L’Arche, and provide ourselves with the means for its development. Jeff, as the new Regional Leader, has been addressing these concerns for several years. As a member of the L’Arche Canada team, he will be able to develop the appropriate means to best meet the needs of Ontario’s communities.
I would like to thank each of the team members for the quality of their contributions and reflections and in particular Jenn Power for the thoroughness with which she led the process.
Thank you to all those who contributed to the processes.
