 | | Publications | | Enough Room for Joy: The Early Days of L'Arche | | | by Bill Clark, SJ | | "More that ever before, the human family, at risk of drowning in an ocean of division and violence, desperately needs signs of hope."— Bill Clarke, SJ | (Softcover; Novalis, 2006; Pp151)
As a young Jesuit, Bill Clarke travelled to Trosly, France, home of the first l’Arche community, to experience l’Arche in action. That was back in 1968. Inspired and impressed by this experience, he was moved to write about the spirituality of this place that welcomed and celebrated people with developmental disabilities. In 1974, he wrote one of the first and most illuminating books on Jean Vanier and l’Arche, capturing the spiritual heart and soul of Vanier’s work as it was still emerging. Over 30 years later, Clarke’s insights and observations are as thought-provoking and as moving as they were when the community began. Enough Room for Joy went out of print a number of years ago. This new release includes all new photographs and updated language and is a sign of hope for all seekers today. | |
