 | | News > Jean Vanier | | Jean Vanier pleads for a new vision of the Church | | | L'Arche Canada-Communications | Jean Vanier delivered a vibrant and compelling message to the 12,000 people attending the first day of the international Eucharistic Congress, on June 16th in Quebec City's Colisée.
| | Appearing as the voice of the millions of men and women who are excluded and
voiceless, Jean Vanier didn't plead for a greater engagement of followers
within the Church, but rather for a radical and authentic engagement from
the Church to the weakest among us.
Jean Vanier is presently holding his last conferences series in Canada. He
took advantage of his presence in Quebec City to go meditate in the Quebec
Citadel's chapel or rest where his parents, Georges and Pauline Vanier, are
buried. General Georges Vanier was one of the founders of the 22nd Royal
Regiment and Governor General of Canada from 1959 to 1967. |
