In 1991 an ecumenical faith fellowship began forming to nurture a vision for a community of L'Arche in Saint John. Over the years, they have shared the vision with others and watched it grow little by little, gathering regularly for planned activities and for moments of worship and celebration.
In 2005, we opened the doors of our first home, calling it "McKim House" in memory of George and Charlotte McKim whose dedication played a key role in bringing L'Arche to New Brunswick. Located at 623 Lancaster Avenue, McKim House is now a true place of welcome and hospitality for all who visit.
Members of L'Arche Saint John are available to offer short presentations for clubs, organizations, young people's groups and others interested in learning about L'Arche. We realize that to found and support a community of L'Arche calls for the vision, the energies and the gifts of many people. We see opportunities for young and old, becoming friends of the community and blessed in turn. We pray that L'Arche in Saint John will become a source of life in our neighbourhood where people will discover the Gospel to be life-giving.
